DNR Fisheries Biologist Jason Breeggemann discusses the history of walleye in Green Bay, including the near extirpation of this species as a result of habitat loss, declines in water quality, over-fishing, and invasive species; the walleye restoration program that resulted in the world class walleye fishery that Green Bay is known for today; and how we the state is currently managing the walleye fishery, including a large tagging study that started in spring of 2024.
