Celebrate 50 years of Central Library service! Sponsored by The Friends of the Brown County Library, this free community event for all ages includes:
- Groove to the beat of a live remote with Green Bay's Classic Hits 103.1 | WOGB-FM -- including hits of the 70s.
- "Things that Go Go Go" Truck Jam in honor of the 50th anniversary of Richard Scarry's book Cars and Trucks and Things that Go. (Is that really Lightning McQueen's best friend Mater? Fans of the movie Cars will want to check out this special four-wheeled guest!)
- Storybook characters: meet and pose for photos with Huckle Cat and Lowly from Richard Scarry's classic picture books, and the Very Hungry Caterpillar, who is also 50+ years old. Watch for appearance schedule posted in the Youth Services Dept.
- "Best Of" Storytime: 15-minute storytime activities every half hour with BCL Children's Librarians past and present. Watch for schedule posted in the Youth Services Dept.
- 50 Lego Block Challenge with Brown County 4-H: What can you build with 50 bricks in 5 minutes? Take a photo.
- Fun in the Cellcom Children's Edible Garden: NEW Master Gardeners and Brown County Seed Library representatives will lead seed-saving activities and tell you about the garden and their projects. Drop in for a self-led Story Stroll courtesy of Brown County FoodWIse. Pick tomatoes or other veggies, while they last!
- Carnival Games: win free books for adults and kids or prizes from our "treasure box."
- Vintage Library Photo Opp Station: It's a real library card catalog! At this station, Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach will present a proclamation recognizing the library's 50th at 12:45 pm.
- Family-friendly "Go Go Go Around the Library Scavenger Hunt": explore what's new and what's not as you search for pictures of imaginary vehicles featured in Cars and Trucks and Things That Go. Find them all for a chance to win a prize.
- Create a Crazy Vehicle Craft in the Youth Services Dept.
- "Then and Now" Displays: Browse our historic library photo and book displays and scrapbooks. Do you see people you know or books or activities you remember? Find out how you can share your own Central Library Story.
- Sidewalk Chalk Art: Share messages or pictures of your favorite books or library memories.
- Get a Library Card if you somehow don't have one!
- Food trucks: La Tacoyota (https://www.facebook.com/tacoyotaGB) and Fox Pop (https://www.facebook.com/foxpopwi/)
