The Green Bay Area During the Black Hawk War of 1832  with  Patrick J. Jung, Ph.D.

The Green Bay area was well outside the main theatre of conflict during the Black Hawk War of 1832.  Nevertheless, as the war unfolded, local militia companies were organized in case the war spread to the Green Bay area.  This talk will provide a general overview of the Black Hawk War, events in Green Bay during the summer of 1832 when the war was fought, and details about the Menominee Indians and their participation in the conflict.

Dr. Patrick J. Jung, received his doctoral degree in United States History from Marquette University in 1997 and has taught at the Milwaukee School of Engineering since 2003.  He has authored two books and several articles on the Black Hawk War of 1832 and other Native-White military conflicts in the western Great Lakes region.
